Pieter Vermeersch’s work combines painting and architecture, and explores the relationships between representation, time, space, and colour. Beyond the borders of the canvas, his investigations result in large-scale spatial interventions that manipulate the space. These pictorial installations or gradual wall paintings create visually powerful experiences that physically affect the viewer. More recently, Vermeersch has started working with marble, which he manipulates pictorially, introducing a new layer to the crystalized time of the material.

Dynamic dialogue

Within spatial experiences, Vermeersch blurs the distinction between the two and three dimensional, the tangible and the intangible, time and space. You thus discover a dynamic dialogue between appearance and disappearance.

M is presenting a major exhibition of new work and a selective survey of his practice. Vermeersch is tailoring the exhibition to the specific museum and architectural context of the exhibition spaces.
