The M-residency van Jivan van der Ende

M offers Jivan van der Ende a three-month residency at Cas-co. Van der Ende (born in 1993 in the Netherlands) creates installations, performances and publications.

In her work, she questions the status that is given to objects, whether they are artefacts or utensils. Her research method is based on endless combining, documenting, collecting and (re)searching. How combinations of colour and material are associated with political power structures and social roles is a recurring theme in Van der Ende's work. She uses this historical and cultural research to question their power and decontextualize their meanings.

Van der Ende's work takes a physical and participatory viewer into account. She strives for an intimate encounter with an audience, where the meaning of the work is often influenced by the audience's own intentions.

Jivan van der Ende (born in 1993 in the Netherlands) studied fashion design at ArtEZ Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem and moved to Belgium in 2016, where she obtained her master's degree in installation art at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent. In 2020, she initiated and curated the YouTube ArtSpace, an online exhibition platform and had her first solo exhibition at LLS Paleis, Antwerp. In 2021, she was artist in residence at the Frans Masereel Centre in Kasterlee.
