Judith Van Oeckel has a five-month M-residency at Cas-co. In her work, she explores the intersections between dance, performance, and visual art, focusing on themes such as ownership, control, and the preservation of movement.

Van Oeckel started her artistic practice after a respiratory infection led to chronic migraines, forcing her to end her career as a performing dancer. This drastic change led her to explore the limits and possibilities of her body and find ways to preserve intangible artistic practices such as dance and performance.
How can you separate movement from the body and store it in a form that allows it to be slowed down, frozen or fragmented – without losing any of its meaning or intensity? During her residency, Van Oeckel will explore this question in greater depth.
