Brahim Tall
Brahim Tall (b. 1993, Leuven) lives and works in Brussels. In 2022, he obtained a master’s degree in visual arts from Luca School of Arts. His work has previously been presented at various venues including KAAP (Ostend), the Beurschouwburg (Brussels) and international film festivals. He has participated in various group exhibitions in, among others, Fomu (Antwerp), Contour Biennial (Mechelen), Netwerk Aalst, Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond (Amsterdam) and Marres (Maastricht). Tall won the VAF Wildcard in 2022 with his short film ‘Tukuleur’.
What does it mean to be Black, and how do we embrace difference? During his residency, Tall researched strategies to transform perceptions of the body, investigating the physical impact of vibrations emanating from song and sound.
Building on his earlier work, ‘The Choir of Dissonance’ (2022), he created a sound installation in which voices merge into a space-filling, vibrating presence – a composition that shifts between harmony, dissonance and chaos.
The work is an exploration of collective identity. Individual voices come together to form a dynamic, fluid body, where dissonance and noise are embraced as meaningful forms of communication.
M presents the outcome of Tall’s residency from 11 April to 31 August 2025 in the museum.
M supports emerging talent and, through residency work, gives artists the opportunity and space to deepen their artistic research and develop new work. Every year, two artists are selected for the M-residency, who are guests at the M-atelier in Cas-co for five months. They follow an intensive trajectory with substantive, financial and technical guidance, culminating in a presentation in M.
