The films of the Finnish artist Salla Tykkä (°1973, Helsinki) are ambiguous and mysterious. Her photorealistic images of a man twirling a lasso in a living room, for instance, or of young champion gymnasts are not straightforward. They are situated between dream and reality. This interplay of opposites, such as ‘viewing and being viewed’ is central. M is presenting the films Retrospective (2016), Lasso (2000) and Giant (2014) as a survey of her work.
