It is a growing phenomenon in recent art history: fictional artists. The group exhibition 'Alias' illustrates this with some 80 artworks from national and international public and private collections. Together they illustrate the strategies contemporary artists use to conflate fiction and reality, and how they confound our perception of the truth. The publication of the same name brings together the research conducted in preparation of the exhibition. With essays by Lionel Bovier (director, MAMCO Geneva), Koen Brams (researcher, curator and publicist), Dieter Roelstraete (curator, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago), Valerie Verhack (curator, M Leuven) and an interview by Thorvaldur Thorsteinsson with 'Four American Artists'. During this book launch, British artist Ryan Gander will perform his performative lecture 'Loose Associations: Wretched '20''. The performance is followed by a book signing by a.o. Jakup Auce, Jim Jilborne, Herman Smit en Various Artists.

M publishes the book 'Alias' with the support of the Fondation Fernand Willame. It will be published by Walther König Verlag.
