M-resident Niels Poiz shows his research

Niels Poiz spent four months as a guest at our M-studio as an M-resident where he explored the performative aspect within his artistic practice. With fragments that the artist extracts from the archives of popular culture – decontextualised words taken from pop songs, films, cyber culture and advertising – Poiz gives expression to his own story and that of others. Coming-of-age themes, the study of communication strategies and sociology form a common thread throughout his oeuvre. Poiz always starts with the text itself. He then builds a scenography around it consisting of sculptures, drawings and installations and that reinforces the narrative.
