For the eighth time, Playground is exploring the captivating zone between these various artistic disciplines. The silent aspect of the visual arts contrasts with the public nature of the shared live performance. In addition to working on their oeuvres individually, artists enjoy the challenge and added value of collaborating with other artists and presenting their creations to live audiences. Furthermore, theatre directors and choreographers often look for a more visually expressive language.

For the production A Stage Matrix 1, Markus Schinwald made a compact theatre set in which a strange furniture machine is continuously manipulated by dancer Oleg Soulimenko.
In the narrative performance Eureka, a lighthouse play, Ellie Ga investigates the history of the lighthouse from its construction to its ruin. A collage of images and voices guides us through facts and imagination, fabrications and myth.
In this new creation, Joëlle Tuerlinckx has embraced the challenge of translating her visual oeuvre to the stage. The audience witnesses her curious and critical exploration of the limits of this medium’s possibilities.
French artist Guy de Cointet (1934-1983) devised unique performances as an extension of his artworks. His performances are talking pictures: the objects’ text, colours and forms result in absurd stories about everyday events.
